- Download latest linuxwacom source from http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/dl (I used the beta linuxwacom-0.7.7-4, but the stable version 0.7.6-4 worked just as well)
- Make sure you have some essential build tools installed:
# apt-get install build-essential ncurses-dev xlibs-dev linux-headers-generic
- ..and get rid of the default wacom tools if you have them:
# apt-get remove --purge wacom-tools
- Unpack the wacom source and build:
$ tar -xjf linuxwacom-0.7.7-4.tar.bz2
$ cd linuxwacom-0.7.7-4
$ ./configure && make && sudo make install
$ cd prebuilt
$ sudo ./install
- Almost there. Set your xorg.conf to use /dev/ttyS0 as the wacom device (see my xorg.conf for example)
- The pen is broken when resuming from suspend. To fix this, create a new file /etc/acpi/resume.d/20-setserial.sh:
#!/bin/bash
/bin/setserial /dev/ttyS0 port 0x0200 irq 5 autoconfig
And make it executable:
$ sudo chmod +x /etc/acpi/resume.d/20-setserial.sh
My serial port did not need to be configured before it would work (except after suspend), but other users have reported that this script needs to be run at boot time to make the pen work. If you have this problem, you could just add "/etc/acpi/resume.d/20-setserial.sh" to your /etc/rc.local script.
